![]() Say I own a duchy that falls under the Kingdom of Scotland. Wait, what!? Don’t worry, it’s not as complex as it sounds. You can see what falls under what via the Duchy, Kingdom, and Empire map toggles in the bottom right of the HUD, near the date and game speed.Īdditionally, there is a thing called De Jure Drift. If you own the duchy title, but only two of the three county titles, you have a De Jure claim on the third and can legally go to war for it. What does that mean for you and titles? Well, think of it this way: a select amount of counties make up a duchy, and if you own the title for that duchy you have a De Jure claim on any counties within it you do not personally own. Martin Luther King, Jr.So, what exactly is De Jure? Land and titles in Crusader Kings 3 follow a hierarchy, and from smallest to largest these are Baronies, Counties, Duchies, Kingdoms, and finally Empires. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action" who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. Mahoyadapuram is essentially an Aden copy, except that it's not within a duchy that has two more Silk Road provinces.Įdit 2: If you have a demesne limit of 12, you can hold the whole of Oman and Sana'a, or you can hold Tabriz, Kermanshah, and Hamadan, along with the counties of Esfahan and Dailam for 69 holding, of which 7 is on the Silk Road. But Aden has the highest POTENTIAL income, let's put it that way. Q.E.D?Įdit: or Alexandria, if you don't management to get another holding in Aden. Aden, Muscat, and Debul are all 6 holding Silk Road provinces, but Muscat and Debul both have an extra castle holding. I don't think you can do better than those anywhere if you intend to only hold two duchies. So Sana'a and Oman combine yield 5 Silk Road provinces, 52 coastal holdings, not to mention they are contiguous. So if you follow the typical build of 1 Castle, 1 Temple, and cities for all other holding, a 5 holding coastal province is just about the same as a 6 holding non-coastal provinces. That's about 1/3 better than non-coastal cities. ![]() Monetarily you get 15 more income from your cities (46 v 31, fully upgraded), subjected to law. So on average one can perhaps say a Silk Road province is about twice as valuable as another one which has the same # and types of holdings but is not on the Silk Road, especially in the late game.īeing coastal gives more galleys, but you'll have enough of those eventually. I just want to quantity the effects of being coastal and the effects of being on the Silk Road.īeing on the Silk Road is a passive ~40% - ~100%, or double or triple of that (or none), depending on whether and which route is being blocked. I could also sort of see having Cairo along with the Duchy of Aswan, or Alexandria but the holding slots aren't particularly great nor could I see having persistent access to the Silk Road.įinally you have the old, unchanged favorites with Sicily and Flanders. Lahore is probably the largest of all Indian duchies, but you're not on a Silk Road crossroad the same way Debul or Baghdad is. The Duchies of Hamadan and Khorasan are sort of similar as well- some silk road access but not exactly perfect (if you're in Persia though, you might as just make the effort to take Baghdad/Oman/Suavira).ĭefinitely agree with Oman- I've had it as my capital recently myself and saw the money rolling in. Samarkand/Fergana isn't terrible either, but the Silk Road is definitely iffy (and also your security) since the hordes are at your doorstep. Baghdad is certainly still up there, now even more so since it's at a crossroad for the Silk Road plus you of course have the large duchy with a good number of holdings slots to work with.
